It's Show Season!

(Oh, look! We still have a blog!)

It's that time of year again, when the weather starts moving away from stupid-hot and people start thinking about the holidays. It's...show season!

We took part in our first show of the season - Aim High, at the Wigwam Resort - about a week and a half ago. It was great to get out and have the chance to visit with people, and we met some really great new friends, too!

For the Aim High show we were limited to a six foot table and a few other vendors had arrived with kid's clothing, so we limited our offerings to primarily non-kids things. I was surprised by how many people we ended up talking to about our kid's stuff, though.

We debuted Benah's new coaster sets at the show, along with some new bag designs and newly redesigned packaging on our soaps. They were yummy before, but now they're extra-super-cute, too.

We had some fun new aprons, and debuted our new pillow covers, too. (Mom did some seriously gorgeous work on those pillows in the front basket. Photographs do *not* do them justice.)

We also had some new wall signs and all of our new tote bags in attendance.

We're putting a few new listings into place, but pretty much everything is available in our main shop or home shop.

Busy, Busy, Busy

It feels like it's been ages since I've posted... I'd feel like a wretched blogger, if it wasn't because I'd just been so busy. Some personal stuff, lots of shop stuff, but busy, no matter how you look at it.

A few pretty pictures of new stuff:

Mom and I have been working on some cute little zippered pouches, and they're all listed in the shop. Mom took special care with the rooster bag. Isn't he fabulous?

And I stitched up some aprons out of the owl fabric (and it's friends), and got those listed, as well. The owl apron sold within minutes of listing. WOW! I've never had something go so quickly! It was really flattering. :)

Given the response to that fabric every time I use it, I should hunt down some more. I only have a little bit left...

AND! Big news!

We've split the shop in two. All of the clothing, accessories, baby care and personal items are still listed in the original frog loves monkey Etsy shop. But, since it seemed to be getting a bit cluttered, decorative items like pillow covers, pot holders, bunting and wall art have been moved over to the new frog loves monkey HOME shop. We're working to flesh it out and fill it up, and there should be all kinds of neat new items over there soon. :)

Things I've Learned...re: Sashiko

Sashiko thread is not the same as embroidery thread. When you're looking for the loose end and you accidentally slip the casing of off of the floss bundle, beware. You might just end up with a hot mess.

At least the project is turning out nicely. ;)

Pretty Pillows

It's late and I haven't got much to say, but I wanted to share some pics of things that we've been working on.

The Inevitable Lull

I keep catching myself thinking "I should write a blog post"...but there just hasn't been a whole lot going on to post about. We've been busy around here, so there's not a whole lot of "new" to talk about.

Mother's Day was nice. My aunt has been in town and it's been lovely to get to visit with her. My step-dad just got back into town today, and we're all VERY excited about that! (He's been in Texas for awhile!) My husband got an infection in a tooth last week and then it shattered a few days ago, so he's been down since then. With trying to make sure he's okay and juggling little ones and getting some behind-the-scenes computer stuff done for the shop...blah. not much else to talk about. ;)

I'm excited about some of the stuff we have coming up, though. The Craft Hope aprons are still coming along, there are a few special orders in process, and some really great artist features coming up. So, it might be quiet for a few more days, but there's good stuff coming. :)

Friday Features

Recently I've been flattered to have been featured on a handful of blogs. I've met some great people, had a lot of fun, found some awesome new blogs to follow and inspiring new artists to watch.

To spread the love, we'll be doing Friday artist features here, too. Watch for the first feature post tomorrow morning. :)

Roadrunner Elementary Spring Fling

This past weekend, we were able to go out and do a live event - always a lot of fun! Mom and I packed everything up, including Richard and the kids, and we headed to north Phoenix for a show at Roadrunner Elementary school. It was our first school show and I didn't really have a great idea of what it was going to be like, but it was really pretty cool! The vendor fair part was set up in the cafeteria where everyone entered, and then the food and games were farther back inside the school yard. They had a bouncy house and tons of games and food vendors like Jamba Juice came in for the event.

We were supposed to have one table but, luckily!, when we got there to set up, the coordinator said there was some extra space and asked if we'd like to use a second table. REALLY glad she did! I have no idea how we'd have fit everything onto one!

We made sure we had a little bit of everything out, even the brand new stuff that hasn't hit the website yet.

Our newest shirts:

Bean bags, wooden toys (eggs, acorns, and scooping sets), quilts, potholders, tissue holders, and soaps - including the new Honey Almond Oatmeal scent:

Mei tai, bunting, diaper straps, and car seat/nursing covers:

Close up of a car seat cover, Baltic amber teething necklaces and flannel wipe sets:

Soaps, scrubs and tissue holders:

Produce bags, snap pouches, and diaper straps:

Lots and lots and lots of skirts:

It was awesome having Richard along to help.

The kids had a blast, though my little child freaked out and fell asleep about an hour before it was time to wrap up and leave.

The big kid had SO much fun on the bouncy house, painted an awesome picture and actually found snacks that he was allowed to eat.

All in all, an awesome event.

Playing Hooky

Combine Saturday and unusually cool weather, and I couldn't help but take the kids out to the farmer's market again today.

I was *really* glad that I packed jackets for us at the last moment. It was quite cool once we were out there in the wind. Both of the kids insisted on keeping their sweaters zipped and their hoods up.

There was still much to see and do, though, and we had a great time. (And ate many fresh carrots.)

I'm already looking forward to our next trip. :)

Thirty Minute Pants

A quick little blurb on a personal project...

The other day, my husband had the kids at my sister's house while I tried to get some work done without interruption. I ended up with thirty minutes to spare before I was supposed to go meet them and, since I planned to make my daughter a new dress for Easter, I wanted to get something made for my son, too. He'd picked out some Lightening McQueen fabric for pajama pants and a little bit of insanity made me look at the clock and think, "Can I get those done in thirty minutes?"

Short answer...yes.

And he loves them!

I altered the pattern for the lounge pants that we have in the shop, adjusting for no cuff and dropping off the pocket. In retrospect, I should have added TWO pockets - so he'd have someplace to park his cars! I'll keep it in mind when I make him another pair. He already has some more Lightning McQueen fabric picked out. ;)

Etsy Treasuries

Thanks to Craft Cult, it's possible to do a search and get these cool widgets if you've been featured in an Etsy treasury. Which is kind of a neat way to remember the collections.

Some of our stuff has been featured since the last treasury post. :)

I'm kind of sensing a theme with the sugar scrubs here...

Instead of Working...

Yesterday, we took the day off and went to the farmer's market. It was awesome. ;)

We saw gorgeous flowers...

And gorgeous veggies...

And had an awesome lunch...

And an awesome dessert... (That's all-natural chocolate raspberry on the big kid, and prickly pear/passion fruit on the little one.)

All in all, an awesome day. :)

Mixed Blessings

Mom and I have been working really hard the past few weeks to get everything lined out for the trunk show. It's been awesome watching things come together, and I'm getting really excited by some of the things that we've finished. I've also been stressing quite a bit over the things that I'd wanted to get done that just weren't going to get done in time.

Then, this morning, I got a mixed blessing phone call.

The trunk show has been postponed. It's still going to happen soon, but the date is TBD.

A bit disappointing, perhaps, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that it's also a little bit of a relief. Now I have time to order additional soap supplies and make a few more quilts and round out the size runs on some of the new pieces that we've made and and and. Honestly, we could probably work for another six months and I still wouldn't feel like we'd done enough, but this *does* allow us to fill in some holes. ;)

I'm also excited to be home on the 3rd. Just after we set the date for the trunk show, my dad made arrangements to come visit...on the 3rd. D'oh. My son couldn't be happier. Although the Henny half of Henny & Ev is his best buddy, he wasn't at all pleased that we were going to miss a day of hanging out with Grandpa.

So, back to the sewing machine for me. ;)

(PS - The dedicated website is still on target and the blog feature is still in place, too, so there's still plenty going on!)

More Treasuries!

It looks like frog loves monkey has been included in ELEVEN treasuries over on Etsy.  That's actually really flattering. :)

Here are a few that I missed posting on the blog.

Thanks for the inclusion, everyone!
